WHEN: Thursday 10th December 2015, 7-9pm
WHERE: London Interfaith Centre, 125 Salusbury Road, London NW6 6RG
Did you know that the British Government’s PREVENT imposes a legal duty on workers in Education, Health and Social Services to report anyone they think is likely to become an ‘extremist’? Although it claims to include those likely to join the BNP or EDL, in practice it targets Muslims and those who are perceived to be Muslims. It could also be used against anyone who speaks out on, for example, British Government foreign policy.
Jawaab and Brent Anti-Racism campaign invite you to come and share your concerns about Prevent at a public meeting – especially if you are a school or college student, a parent, a childcare provider/ teacher/ lecturer, a public sector worker or a community group.
Please spread to word and bring interested friends or colleagues.
Speakers will include Bill Bolloten (Education not Surveillance), Khalida Khan (An-Nisa Society), Rizwan Hussain (Jawaab and Brent Anti-Racism Campaign), Rob Ferguson (National Union of Teachers), Malia Bouattia (National Union of Students), Kiri Tunks (Palestine Solidarity Campaign), Shahrar Ali (Brent Green Party), Cllr Harbi Farah (Brent Labour Party). Chair: Humera Khan.
We look forward to seeing you there.
