Research on youth issues in Germany June 13th 2013

We visit Ruhr Westfalia and conduct grassroots listening, discussing the issue of Islamophobia with young people, religious and community leaders and activists. All individuals consulted from a wide range of religious and non-religious backgrounds expressed their concerns that Islamophobia was on the rise in their local area. Many of them citing particular local examples of direct discrimination, exclusion and hate. There was also a strong sense of resilience and hope, where everyone wanted to make a significant difference within their local community, in fighting notions of hate and racism.
